Nicole Richie and Joel Madden continue to put their money where their mouths are. Harlow Madden’s mom and dad have added another layer to the Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation that the couple started last year.
Nicole Richie is behind a new online gift registry that will provide baby products to moms in need.
“Nicole saw that even a clean blanket was out of reach for some of these new moms so she wanted to figure out an efficient way to connect them with companies and individuals who want to help,” foundation advisor Bruce Richman told People magazine.
“We take for granted the basic necessities. For some families, it’s a serious struggle,” Richie told People. “This is one way to ease the financial burden, and help new babies have a good start in life. We are only working with companies and products that Joel and I would use. We’re checking every product out for safety – and all products are BPA-free.” (Bisphenol A, commonly abbreviated as BPA, is a often used in plastic and may be hazardous to humans.)
Families will sign up at social services agencies in New York and Los Angeles. The list will then be posted online where donors can view and purchase cribs, blanket, bottles etc. Nicole and Joel even plan to include items they use on Harlow.
The list has not officially launched yet. Donors Choose and Baby2Baby will serve as resources.
…with his Ava. Ava Jackman celebrated her 3rd birthday complete with family, friends and a birthday ferry. Big brother Oscar was on hand to help with the festivities (and a soldier statue).
Hugh and met his wife Deborra-Lee Furness on the set of his first acting job. They married in April, 1996. The couple adopted Oscar in 2000 and Ava in 2005. Every source I’ve found list’s Ava’s birth date at July, 10. So either they are wrong or Ava’s having a very belated birthday. Whatever the case looks lilke the family is having lots of fun.
Hugh’s WWII-era epic Australia is set for a Nov. 14, release. The epic romance co-stars Hugh’s good friend and fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman.
Suri took her parents for walk Friday afternoon in Manhattan. E! reports that Suri is the true fashionista in the family. “If Suri doesn’t like Katie’s shoes, she’ll take them off. Tom, too. He does whatever Suri wants. He defers to her on everything.” Dad’s going to have primary parenting responsibilities while Katie does her first sting on Broadway. Wonder if Suri was the one who suggested Kati’s new haircut. Who do you think she looks more like? I’m going to go with Katie though her eyes don’t seem to belong to either of them.
Looks like the Harry Potter will have a little more time to pursue other projects before they hit the road to promote Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. In a completely convoluted statement Warner prez Alan Horned blamed the delay on the writers strike.
“We are still feeling the repercussions of the writers strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other films — changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of,” Horn said. “We agreed the best strategy was to move ‘Half-Blood Prince’ to July, where it perfectly fills the gap for a major tentpole release for midsummer.”
“Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” to $77.1 million in July 2007 en route to $292 million domestically. It represented the second-biggest grosser in the franchise’s history after the 2001 original.
So basically they think moving the Half-Blood Prince to summer blockbuster season will help put the entire franchise on better footing because they were behind on the other scripts.
Barack Obama, a native of Hawaii, returned to the Aloha state this week for some vacation time with the family. The dad of two enjoyed shaved ice and hung out on the beach with his two uber adorable daughters, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7. Earlier this year, Malia has had a few tips for her Dad’s campaign.
“You really don’t shake kids’ hands that much, you shake adults’ hands,” Malia told told her dad.”…You just wave or say hi.”

The High School Musical star is being sued by a producer who claims he and Vanessa had an greement to launch Vanessa’s career and “share equally’ in the profits.” Johnny Vieira claims that Vanessa fired him after High School Musical made her a star. Vieira says that the court had to approve the contract because Vanessa was a minor. As a result of her Musical success, Vieira says that he’s owed $2 million. I’m assuming that the extra $3 million is for punitive damages. Interestingly enough TMZ, has a signed photo that Vanessa gave Johnny when things were a lot rosier between the two.
The note reads, “Johnny, thank you for everything, without you, I would be no where[sic], we will make it BIG- Vanessa Hudgens.” Huh. Wonder how this is going to work out. My guess is they settle. Especially if Johnny does indeed have an agreement that involved the court.
The couple’s stylist, Jeanne Yang, talked with US mag about the style.
“Prps has adapted the style for women in the new fall collection as the Boyfriend jean,” the rep Yang said.
Suri rocks out her own little girl style with poka dot dress, metalic flats and the ever essential stuffed animal. The duo are current in Manhattan for Katie’s Broadway debut in All My Sons. Wonder if Tom is in town? I’m sure he’ll be there for opening night.
I don’t know if this is creepy or far too deep for me to understand. I guess it could be both. Anywho. In an interview with CNN’s Sanjay Goupta, Matthew McConaughey said he kept son Levi’s placenta to plant in a orchard.
“It’s going to bear some wonderful fruit,” said the 38-year-old Texas native.
“When I was in Australia, they had a placenta tree that was on the river,” he said. “It was gorgeous.”
“All the placentas of all that tribe, all that clan, whatever aboriginal tribe that was, all the placentas went under that one tree and it was this huge behemoth of just health and strength.
“This tree was just growing taller and stronger above the rest of Mother Nature around it.”
Matthew and partner’s Camilla Alves spent 60 hours in labor before she eventually had to give have a C-Section. Levi was born with his Levi emerged with his eyes wide open and crying.

The baby’s mom is Clay’s good friend and producer 50 -year-old Jaymes Foster. The birth is believed to have taken place in Clay’s North Carolina home.
Geri Halliwell celebrated her birthday with her daughter Bluebell Madonna at Disneyland in California on Wednesday. Gerry wore a happy birthday button from Disney to celebrate her 36th year while enjoying some of the park’s ride. Little Ginger Spice celebrated her 2nd birthday in May. Bluebell’s father is believed to be British screenwriter Sacha Gervasi though it’s never been officially confirmed by either party. Bluebell was named after a rare flower, pop singer Madonna and the Virgin Mary. Big Ginger Spice released her first children’s book, Ugenia Lavender earlier this year.
The book was the first in a six book follows “the adventures of nine-year-old Ugenia, a character based on Halliwell, alongside her friends Bronte, Rudy and Trevor.” Maybe Ginger Spice will turn up as well.
