Looks like the Harry Potter will have a little more time to pursue other projects before they hit the road to promote Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. In a completely convoluted statement Warner prez Alan Horned blamed the delay on the writers strike.

“We are still feeling the repercussions of the writers strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other films — changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of,” Horn said. “We agreed the best strategy was to move ‘Half-Blood Prince’ to July, where it perfectly fills the gap for a major tentpole release for midsummer.”

“Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” to $77.1 million in July 2007 en route to $292 million domestically. It represented the second-biggest grosser in the franchise’s history after the 2001 original.

So basically they think moving the Half-Blood Prince to summer blockbuster season will help put the entire franchise on better footing because they were behind on the other scripts.

I’m sure that Daniel Radcliffe and the rest of the gang will be able to squeek by on until the next summer. Daniel is worth and estimated $23 million , Emma Waston just signed a Chanel contract f $3 million, and Rupert Grint will make a $5 million dollars for the next two movies.

Until then it’s all there’s always the trailer.
